Learning about and from children
The Division of Child Studies aims to cultivate in-depth knowledge and research skills regarding theory and application through lectures and guidance by specialists in each of the three main fields of (i) development and Applied Human Science, (ii) children's literature and culture, and (iii) music and art. The Division also aims to nurture human resources who can contribute to the sound upbringing of children in society through their specialized knowledge and skills.
Characteristics of the Division of Child Studies
In the Division of Child Studies, many of the faculty members who teach undergraduate courses (Department of Child Studies) also teach the courses in the Master's program. Therefore, students who enter the Division from the Department can continue to explore research topics that interested them during their undergraduate years.
As a trend of enrolled students in the Division over the past five years, nearly half of them are from other universities. That is to say, the characteristics of the Division are that it is open to students from other universities and offers appropriate learning environment to them.
