The Division of History has three specialized fields of Japanese history, Eastern history and Western history, and aims to foster human resources who can contribute to society as educators and researchers by acquiring the capability to consider and explore specialized fields while conducting comparative historical research. The Division emphasizes the acquisition of a wide range of language skills, which are the foundation of historical research. They include the ability to read through a variety of historical documents from ancient to modern times in Japanese history, and Chinese, Korean, German, French, and Italian in Eastern and Western history.
Human Resource Development and Educational and Research Purposes
The Division of History aims to develop human resources who are capable of reading and applying historical sources in the fields of Japanese, Eastern, and Western history in response to the expansion of research fields and the sophistication and diversification of research methods, and who can conduct comparative historical research on each field from a global historical perspective.
