Three Policies of the Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Social Sciences

Diploma Policy (Master's Program)

  • Students will have a broad knowledge of matters related to human beings and society and acquire a high level of expertise in a specialized field.
  • Students will be able to identify and solve today's issues related to human beings and society and tackle them from an international and interdisciplinary perspective.
  • Students will be able to read and understand highly specialized literature and materials related to human beings and society, and present their research results with accurate expression and communication skills.
  • Students will be able to contribute to society at large through expertise in their respective fields, practical activities and fieldwork.

Curriculum Policy (Master's Program)

  • Lectures and seminars are offered with a balance of theory and practice.
  • For more interdisciplinary study, a system is established to enable students to take subjects in other divisions and audit subjects in other graduate schools.
  • Students are required to write a master's thesis that meets the standards set forth in the JWU Degree Regulations under individual guidance.

Admission Policy (Master's Program)

  • Students who want to conduct interdisciplinary and international research on various issues related to human beings and society.
  • Students who have a volition to contribute to society with their advanced expertise.

Diploma Policy (Doctoral Program)

  • Students will have a broad knowledge of matters related to human beings and society and acquire advanced academic knowledge in a specialized field sufficient to earn their doctoral degree.
  • Students will be able to identify and solve today's issues related to human beings and society and tackle them from an international and interdisciplinary perspective.
  • Students will be able to read and understand highly specialized literature and materials related to human beings and society, and present their research results with accurate expression and communication skills.
  • Students will be able to contribute to society at large with their highly specialized skills and research findings through specialized knowledge, practical activities, and fieldwork in their respective fields.

Curriculum Policy (Doctoral Program)

  • As the culmination of research in each specialized field, students are required to write a doctoral dissertation that meets the standards set forth in the JWU Degree Regulations under guidance based on a research plan.

Admission Policy (Doctoral Program)

  • Students who want to continue further advanced research based on the expertise and research methodologies developed in the master’s Program and to contribute to society.
