Three Policies of the Graduate School of Science

Diploma Policy (Master's Program)

  • Students will have a broad knowledge of integrated and broadened science, and have advanced knowledge in their field of specialization.
  • Students will be able to conduct scientific research with an awareness of the role of science in society.
  • Students will be able to present their research results with accurate expression and communication skills, and with advanced specialized knowledge and skills in science.
  • Students will be able to contribute to society at large as professionals with a broad and advanced knowledge of science.

Curriculum Policy (Master's Program)

  • Lectures and seminars are offered for students to learn more advanced knowledge in each field.
  • Experimental and practical training subjects are offered for students to learn more advanced research methods in science.
  • A master’s thesis is required under the individual guidance and in accordance with the standards set out in the JWU Degree Regulations.

Admission Policy (Master's Program)

  • Students who want to conduct advanced research in various fields of science.
  • Students who have a volition to contribute to society through the results of research in the field of science.

Diploma Policy (Doctoral Program)

  • Students will have a broad knowledge of integrated and broadened science and a deep academic knowledge sufficient to earn a doctoral degree in their specialized field.
  • Students will be able to conduct scientific research as an independent researcher by further developing the investigative, analytical, and critical thinking skills they cultivated on the Master’s program.
  • Students will have more advanced specialized knowledge and problem-solving skills in the field of science, and be able to present research results with appropriate expression and communication skills.
  • Students will be able to contribute to society at large as professionals with more advanced research results in various fields of science.

Curriculum Policy (Doctoral Program)

  • As the culmination of research in each specialized field, a doctoral dissertation is required under the guidance of a research plan and in accordance with the standards set out in the JWU Degree Regulations.

Admission Policy (Doctoral Program)

  • Students who want to further develop their research in the Master’s program and become independent researchers in their own research field.
