Our faculty has its roots in home economics. Home economics is a practical, comprehensive science that contributes to the improvement of the quality of life and to the health, safety, and welfare of human beings. In other words, it is a practical discipline that contributes to the well-being of human beings by exploring human life and its environment from the perspective of ordinary citizens. The four departments of the Faculty (Child Studies, Food and Nutrition, Clothing, Social and Family Economy) are all concerned with our everyday lives.. By exploring them from natural science, humanities, and social science perspectives, and by applying theories to real life, we will be able to greatly develop our own "zest for life," including their vocational abilities, and cultivate the ability to enrich society. We hope that students, who will be responsible for the era of great transition, such as globalization, declining birthrates and an aging society, will study the various fields of the Faculty of Human Sciences and Design.
