The Faculty of Humanities is comprised of three departments: the Department of Japanese aims to study Japanese language and literature to gain a deep understanding of both Japanese traditions and ourselves living in contemporary society; the Department of English Literature aims to study a various aspects of English language, literature and culture, based on the acquisition of proficiency in English; and the Department of History aims to grasp the long path taken by humankind through the study of history and the acquisition of historical thinking skills..
In the Faculty of Humanities, students learn Japanese, English, and other foreign languages to understand the emotions and thoughts contained in divers narratives and historical documents from ancient times to the present. They engage in discussions and critical thinking in small-group classes, develop a personal character transient societal trends, and effectively express their own feelings and thoughts in their own words. Regardless of the department chosen, students can aquire these valuable skills from the Faculty of Humanities. The skills developed here will be beneficial in any profession.
