English Capability to Communicate with People around the World

JWU offers English education at all stages of its kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, senior high school and university with a view to achieve “English Capability to Communicate with People around the World.”

Listening carefully to people with different values, understanding their ideas, and then clearly expressing one's own opinions, thereby achieving a true mutual understanding – in order to engage in sincere dialogue and work together with others, English capability is imperative. JWU will accompany students in their active English learning by providing students with a system that meticulously supports persistent efforts to acquire foreign languages as well as various opportunities to engage in English dialogue with diverse people.

Program details

(1) Improving English proficiency with a focus on TOEFL®

IELTS and TOEFL® are widely recognized as English proficiency tests for studying abroad at universities in English-speaking countries. JWU focuses on TOEFL® to help students study abroad and cultivate English proficiency that will be useful in their lives and studies after studying abroad.

Students at the Junior High School affiliated with J.W.U. are encouraged to take the TOEFL Primary® and TOEFL Junior®, which are often used for screening students for study abroad programs at high schools in English-speaking countries. Test fees are borne by the school.

Students at Senior High School affiliated with J.W.U. can take in advance the TOEFL iBT® preparation course, which is open to university students.

Characteristics of TOEFL iBT® preparation course

  • Together with friends
    Students aim for their target scores while encouraging each other with friends who share the common goal of studying abroad.
  • Special lecture by a certified trainer at TOEFL® operating company
    Students will attend three special lectures given by one of only eight certified TOEFL® trainers in Japan.
  • Overcoming weaknesses accurately and preparing for speaking and writing tests
    Speaking and writing skills, which are difficult to improve by oneself, will be strengthened through training by native speaker faculty members.
  • Getting used to taking tests
    Participants can try their skills at TOEFL ITP® and TOEFL iBT® practice tests, and be well-prepared to take the TOEFL iBT® tests with confidence.
  • A full refund of the course fee with the completion of the course
    Participants will receive a full refund of the course fee with the completion of the course.

(2) Foreign language education through art

JWU is focusing on art education that emphasizes the sensibilities of each individual, from kindergarten upwards. Attractive overseas training programs that combines a rich art education with foreign language education.
